On September 11th, Suraksha will organize a musical event where senior playback singer M.T.Vishnu Raman will entertain the public with his melodious voice. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the NGO’s activities.
Known as Vishnu in the Kannada musical world, Vishnu Raman has sung the songs for more than 60 Kannada movies. Over the past 38 years, he has lent his voice for more than 9000 songs in four major languages, including Kannada and Tamil.
Sangya Balya, Nammur huduga, Praana Snehitha and Puksatte ganda hotte thumba unda are some of the popular movies whose lyrics he sang. He even sang at events organized by Kannada organizations in America. He is one of the key singers of “Endhu mareyadha haadu,” the popular music program on television directed by Ravi Belagere, and “Snehadha Kadalalli” directed by actor Shreenath.
As our very name implies, SURAKSHA CHARITABLE TRUST is a non-government organization dedicated to bringing up destitute children. We play the role of parents for these children, and raise them as affectionately as any other parent. Anybody can refer such children to us; we adopt them, providing them everything they need, from food to clothing, and shelter to education.
Suraksha, however, explores all possible avenues to reconnect or reunite the children back with their parents. Although such attempts rarely yield positive results, we do whatever we can to see that joy on the face of the child. Some time, we even try helping the parents rebuild their lives so they can take care of their child just like any other parent. Parentally disabled children are those who have no parental support or care. In other words, they are destitute children, the children who need a parent to grow up and face the realities of life.
The reason for abandoning children varies from case to case. Most of the time, parents don’t abandon them deliberately, but the circumstance forces them to do so. Females who deliver children without wedlock also resort to abandoning. The main culprit, however, is poverty. Children who lose their parents even as they are too young to care for themselves are also part of this category. For every society or the country to become prosperous, children need to be protected and educated. Children without parental care are vulnerable to addicting to deadly habits and falling prey to criminal gangs.
Giving them a parental care is the necessity in order to foster a healthy and pleasant society. Someone has to do this on behalf of the larger society, and we have taken up this task, albeit in a small way.
